The all time Goth classic...swirling,haunting guitars like The Smiths gone totally evil,and a howling,moaning,voice of hell. One of the best Goth rock albums ever,and one of my favorites for the last 20 years. This is a brilliant,dark fucker of an album and perfect for dark,rainy nights on dope and booze. My favorite song is the violent opener "Slow Kill",but the whole album is killer,esp. "Blue Water" and this song...

Heres a great collection from awesome early 80's LA punk band Red Scare. They had a fantastic singer named Bobbi Brat,who died way too young from cancer. They could be compared to early female fronted bands like Vice Squad or Sin 34,but they had their own style and sound. Definitely a cool band. My personal fave is "Street Life".

I really love howling,desperate music and this album is a perfect L.A. album. I love old L.A. punk,like the pre-hardcore variety like the Weirdos and The Screamers.. and this album by Exene Cervenka and DJ Bonebrake of X and Matt Freeman of OpyIvy,has that desperate living pre-hardcore punk sound down pat. I think if you had to pick one album to listen to while drinking alone all day in Stockton,Ca. with no friends....this might be it.

Witchcraft "The Alchemist"

I remember when I was a kid and I first heard The Scorpions "Blackout",I dunno in like 82 or something. I was 12 and thought "Damn,that shit is what I wanna listen to for the rest of my fucking life in this shitty fucked up okie ass portagee tracy,ca. stupid redneck town where I get picked on by stupid chew suckin cowboys everyday"... I loved that album and all the other metal albums i listened to after that and it made me a real shithead smartmouth,that screaming metal shit. I discovered Black Flag and Bad Brains and Slayer and Venom after that,but that first Metal shit put me on my way. Whats that got to do with this fucking awesome Witchcraft album? Well,I remember this dude named Shamn who we used to for some reason call "Madonna" cuz he had big poofy hair,one day he said "Hey,Bobby..you like Slayer? Ill let you borrow this Witchfinder General "Death Penalty" tape if you lemme borrow your Slayer "Show No Mercy" tape".

Bein that we hung out on the same street,I did.

I remember I loved that Witchfinder General tape...thats why Im so stoked on Witchcraft. Listen to the Doom and rock the fuck out,and go buy it....

Aghast is a mid/late 90's deathambient project from the female part of the Norwegian death contigent who made a name for themselves the last decade keeping it real for the devil and what lurk in the haunting grim forests of death. This is bleak,sparse,haunting stuff....if you like to stare at the fog covered moon and revel in thoughts of killing yourself,or others....recommended.
